Pseudotropheus Acei Are Breeding! | |
General Hague Enthusiast Posts: 182 Kudos: 81 Votes: 3 Registered: 29-Jun-2007 | I had bought 2 originally. They are in a 90 gallon tank with several other species of fish. Despite that, I've found babies, and I've put them in a 20 gallon tank as I find them. There probably has been more babies, but they've probably gotten eaten... but some have survived, and one of the babies is getting pretty big. One of them is about the size of a full size sparkling gourmi. The orignalky pair aare really neat to watch right now. Their blue is more easily visible and on one of them, the fins instead of being the regular yellow only has a whitish blue tinge to it. That one keeps on following the other one around the tank. |

They are mouth brooders so if you want more fry then watch for the female to go off food and it will look like she has a mouthful of food, sometimes you will even be able to see her tumble the eggs around in her mouth. THey usually hold the eggs for 18-21 days, i used to take my female out of the main tank at 18 days and put her in her own ten gallon, with in a day or two she would feel safe enough there to spit them out, then i would put her back in the main tank and leave the babies in the ten gallon. |
