I recently started keeping an angel..it has grown from about a quarter size fish to about 3 inches across. Until recently i never notice that my normally striped angel can and often does change colors. I dont mean stressed out change or poor water changes. Its almost as though it changes perpetually

It often, an i mean often, goes completely silver to bold black bars, especially when it see me and rushes to the top to eat...
Now my question is do any of the other color varieties change. the black veils, do they to go silver. do the gold fluctuate so dynamcially as mine does.. most important for is if the koi variety change. I would love to keep koi angel especially if they are as charming as my single angel.

My koi angel despite a bit of pattern shifting over the years , didnt change day to day. The blacks are hypermalanistic, they cant fade unless ill usually. Only norms and various pattern variations on the normal, and the odd gold one usually change with any regularity.

The bars on my angel change minute to minute...and have done so for a long time. At time it can look like two different fish...
My angel looks really healthy. my parameters are great..

gold aye.. very cute. if the gold change like my zebra it would be like keeping a jelly fish or octopus.

I have had my two angels for well over a year and they both of their stripes would fade in and out all the time but my pair of black angels are always black.

The stripes are a sign of mood on the fish, they normally get bolder if the fish is exited, angry, or stressed.

The bars are normally called stress bars.

Discus have them as well.
