![]() | Question about Electric Yellow...babies |

She stays hidden in the plants, the male doesnt let her come out and she is getting so skinny that she looks like she is going to die. Is all this normal? Thanks in advance! |

Three-to-five weeks is usually the time period, varying ba Her hiding is a natural instinct - she must preserve as much energy as possible since she does not eat during the holding period. During this period it is very normal for females to become quite skinny, although they recover quickly after the release of fry. It is very easy to worry when your female is in a state like this, but unless she is being pestered non-stop by your male, she'll probably be ok. Some people like to remove females and place them in a seperate tank during the holding period, either to preserve the fry or to alleve strain on the female if she is being harassed. I leave my females in my main tank, as they have many hiding places to seek refuge. |
