Hey everyone,

Sad news that during my holiday period my krib parents ate their babies.
And when I got back, the female caught a disease and died.
The male isn't very happy at this moment and I think he won't live long.

Next week I'm going to my lfs and buy some Multi-cure and keep it on hand just in case of another disease.
And to fill my empty 15G up I was considering about blue acaras.

Questions:
1. What is the minimum requirement for housing 1 blue acara?
2. What is the minimum requirement for housing 1 pair of blue acara?
3. What is their temper?
4. Will they eat my plants?

Thanks in advance.
Jimmy

To be honest, a blue acara probably wouldn't fit in a 15 gallon. They can grow to six inches long, so there wouldn't really be much room for even one. Instead, have you considered dwarf cichlids? You'd be able to fit a pair of those, depending on the type.

Sorry to hear about what happened with your kribs

I agree though, a 15g is too small for a blue acara. Other cichlid ideas would be shell dwellers, apistos, keyholes or rams. You could also look at [link=this site]http://search.atomz.com/search/?sp-q=cookie+cutter&sp-a=sp1002682c&sp-p=all&sp-f=ISO-8859-1" style="COLOR: #FFFF99[/link] for more ideas. They don't specifically list a 15g but do have 10 and 20.

Good luck

well i agree with the other posters, a 15g is too small for a blue acara
i'd say a 30g would be fine for 1 or a pair. Their tempers vary, coz my female blue acara is very peaceful, but FTs male is quite aggresive. Blue Acaras shouldn't eat plants, but they are known for pulling them out

Thanks a lot guys.
But the decision has been made.
Since my mom loved the kribs so much we all agreed to have another pair.
I also bought a bottle of Multi-cure to keep on hand.
Hope I have better luck this time.
