Anyway my male is hanging out by the filter allot. I can't get him to stay down. Does this mean he is dying or what is going on with him. My female is doing great. |

My male red zebra tended to stay up by the filter. Are the other cichlids bigger than him? If so he is probably just submitting to the dominance of the others by avoiding there territory. He should be fine unless you see a lack of eating. |

He is about the same size as most and a little bigger than some. I have 2 auratus in the tank that I think are being a bit mean. I think i'm going to take them back to pet smart. I don't like how they chase the other fish. I bet he is just scared of those. What do you think? Last edited by Autum at 17-Sep-2005 11:59 |

Giving away a fish is always better than returning them. Your zebra will eventually come down whenever he is ready to. You may want to try to add some plants or decorations that provide good cover. Are the other fish in the tank new? If so he should come back down in a few weeks. EDIT: Please don't rag on chain stores. They vary from one location to the other, so service/quality and such differ. Last edited by sirbooks at 18-Sep-2005 10:17 |

They were fine I just don't think I want them in my tank. The red Zebra has started to come down a little. He is still hanging at the top of the tank but not so much hiding under the filter. I make sure he gets food. He has been eating out of my hands. It's pretty cool. But all the fish that are in the tank were gotten when I got him. Everything in the tank has calmed down now that they are gone. All the fish are smaller or the same size as he is. I hope he will be fine now. By the way were you talking to me when you wrote "please don't rag on chain stores" What did you mean by that? Did I rag a chain store? Last edited by Autum at 18-Sep-2005 10:51 |
