Any one with experience with Salvini? I purchased a pair (still young and sex I cannot determine). Although whenever I see pics of these fish they are yellow in colour, my pair are rather dull with silver and horizontal black stripe. Do the young change colour when they grow up or depend on the breeding regime of fish farmers?

Its possible that the fish are a little stressed from being moved around and are just showing signs of that. Can you post a picture of your fish? that would probably help

It depends on their size. They start out silver with a black stripe, but colour up as they grow. Females will get a deep red belly, males will have some red too, but will be slightly dull and more blue than the females. It's pretty difficult to tell them apart, except for the fact that males are far more territorial and grow bigger.

Very nice fish, but make sure tank mates are equally aggressive.
