i've heard many times that angels should be kept either on their own or in group of 3 or more, unless they are a breeding pair.

i've had a angel on it's own now for couple years, it's doing really well and it's my fav fish.

i was wondering could i add a second angel or is it to late now?

if it would be ok what size angel should i get?

the one i have now is about 5in nose to tail and about 7-8inches tall.

he/she not sure which lives in my 40g heavily planted, loads bogwood and roots.

or what other largeish fish could work?

cheers Shekoi

40g
7 H. Rasbora
4 Neon Rainbows
7 Corys
1 clown pleco
1 otto
1 Marble Angel

I would add more Ottos, Neons & Rasboras as they like to stay in schools.

I would get another angel or two. I even had a tiny one in with 4 twice her size once and they were fine. But just two...I had agression. And of course each spawning is a bit of a battle

Be cautious adding more angels, if you really like the one you have I wouldn't risk adding more because you could get a bully or if you add more than one they could pair up and attack your origional favorite, adding a school of rummy nose and some more ottos might be a better idea

The difference between 'involvement' and 'commitment' is like an bacon and egg breakfast: the chicken was 'involved' - the pig was 'committed'."

I had one Angel in a 46 gallon and then I added a second one. The first angel bullied the new one all the time. He basically hid in the corner of the tank. In a 40 gallon I would stick with one, unless your going to be breeding a male and female in their own tank.

Instead of adding a school of rummynose, jsut build up you current schools. Most of the fish you have prefer schools. Here is a suggested list:

Add
1 Rasbora
1 Cory(of the same kind)
1 Clown Pleco
1 Angel
2-3 Ottos

That would probably be your best bet in completing your tank for starters, IMO. You want your fish to be happy as well as you so that you can watch them for a long time to come. If after that you feel you need to add something different then think about it, but not until you fill out your schools first. I am not sure what you mean when you refer to Neon Rainbows so I do not know if they need to be in a bigger school or not.

Probably means dwarf neon rainbowfish (Melanotaenia preacox). I think four of these is fine.
