hi guys,

i've got the tank ready to go. except for adding the rock and the fish.

but before i do, i'd like to know what would be better suited to a 35g tank the mbuna community or the other?

i understand that the mbuna community require more rock than the others so i dont wanna buy too much rock before i add the fish, mbuna are also more agessive right?

so if. i choose a non mbuna community (less rock)what cichlids can i get ?

In a 35g, for Mbuna you can get 1m, 2f electric yellow's...
or you could try a trio of Peacocks also 1m, 2f.

A community of anything is out as your tank just isn't big enough...you could also try posting in the Tanganyikian cichlid forum. There's a few species that could forum a nice community.

But from Malawi, it has to be a species tank and there's very few that are peaceful enough for that size tank. 55g is really the min. for any Malawi community set-up.

thanks mate.

i think i'll go the peacock route. less rock

i know the tanks a little small for anything serious but it's not doing anything, so i though i'd get some LM cichlids.

Yes lees rock work but you do still need enough to provide those females with cover and the male with a bit of territory

Also avoid any Aul. Jacobfreibergi Variant as they get 7-8", and are much more aggressive then oth Aul. Species which for the most part get 4-5" and are rather peaceful

Good Luck and Enjoy
