1st time parents a gold and a green severum (looks more turquoise). They successfully raised 16 little ones who are maybe an inch on average. I have given away 8 of them but am off to the pet store for yet another aquarium ]

My question is should I go larger than a 55 gallon? The male adult is at least 7 inches and the female 4½. How many should I keep? I'd love to keep the 8 I have left but just don't see how. Also, keeping in mind the $ for the larger tanks. I can't go overboard. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. I am quite proud of my parents and they are yet again trying to breed. Must be the season...

As your pair continues to grow, I'd say go for a larger tank for them, possibly a 75 gallon, which would also give the parents more room to raise the fry.

Keeping the fry is solely your own decision, though honestly, I would focus more on the parent pair you have already. Raising the fry might result in a restriction on space for either your pair or for themselves if there isnt a large enough tank.

A good idea might be trading in your fry for a new type of fish you can raise.

Thanks for your reply. I agree the parent pair takes priority. They are already cleaning a rock to spawn again. Geez I love the colors the male exhibits...beautiful! I still have 8 babies in with them but bought a 90 gallon yesterday and am setting up for cycle. This should make them much more comfortable in a few weeks. Looks like I got both gold & dark babies. I love this stuff!
