Hey everyone.... I was wondering if there's any plants which can take on severums.. I have tried my self but so far no luck... I have not tried amazons swords but have been told "don't even try!" is there anyone out there who can give me some advice or knows any plant species that will stand up against them.

I think the plants you're looking for are called "plantastics", or plastic plants. Even those will probably be floating around your tank in a couple of days.

I have a cave that came with plants glued on it. Some of the plants have mysteriously came off. Now I just plant them in the gravel. They will usually last for a while, and then one day all three of them will be torn up. I also find my severum still tugging on the plants glued onto the cave. And yes I had amazon swords which, needless to say, aren't in my tank anymore.

I think your best bet for plants is get some good realistic plastics and really ancor them down.

They will up-root the Amazons as well. Severums are a fish that seems to get "meaner" to plant the bigger they get. I keep several different types of severums in a 150 gal with live plants but most have been picked on (plants that is). I do cut zucchina for them about once every 2 weeks and all they leave for me is the rind. This seems to keep them off my other plants but if they don't like the location of the plants, believe me they will move them.

I had a severum in with vals and cabomba and i would find them uprooted almost immediatley after i re-planted them. But i do know of people who keep them in planted tanks, so i say that it is possible but not the easist fish to keep in a planted tank.

Do you have nesting areas for the severums? My sevs only dig around the flat stones of their nests. Ive never had them dig up a plant. Of course my plants are plastic. Maybe adding more raw veggies would help. Have you tried lettuce or watermelon (my sevs favorite)

Thanks everyone.... I have not tried water melon but will when they come in season.... I've had my severum for almost a year now they have flourished in my tank with. Two Juveline(green & gold) arond 4" and added about three months two around 2"(green & gold).... I have not seen them try to mate yet I think I have only males... I have only plastic plants as well but they have not uprooted any but add lettuce to the tank and they will all go for it I have bought broad leave plants before and they seem too last a fair while but a have to keep replacing them... This guys have mischief character, luv 'em
