My ram is still pretty small, and now i am thinking "she" is a male also. Although it has a little pink on its belly, it is getting more colorful and has very high black spikes on the front of its dorsal spikes. I cannot get any of the websites to work, but leave a post here and i can email you the pictures if u have rams or would like to help me out! Thanx!

I am sorry to hear that your ram died. I have spawned mine before but no such luck raising the fry since they are so small, and just not worth the money to raise them, so now I just have the male and female seperated(turned on eachother)

Well sadly, the one i presumed was a male died today unexpectedly I was so sad, but i don't know what to do i want to get a new one but i think i want to wait till this one matures and then see. I think this one might be a male, because he no longer has any pink on his belly. SO i am gonna try to take more pictures. Wish me luck!

Just look at the dorsal fin of each ram. If they are old enough, you will notice that the males have a 'spike' of longer rays in the front of the fin, while females lack this. Female rams do have more pink on their bellies than males do, but this is not always a foolproof way to sex these fish. Just check out their dorsal fins, and they will tell you all you need to know.

I agree in that you should get some better photos, though. I can't tell anything from the ones you have there.

EDIT: And yes, they are in fact German (blue) rams.

And when he gets to Heaven, to Saint Peter he will tell: "One more Marine reporting, Sir! I've served my time in Hell."

Sorry i am trying!! Thank you so much for doing that, i will try again tonight!
In the first i kinda captured a little pink on the belly, and on the third you can see there is not as much pink.

put these pics into "paint" or another program.in paint click on image and resize it by clicking stretch. type in "50%" to show it half the size you see it. both verticle and horizontal.

cant help ya till i can see the pics and even these pics i cant seem to make anything out. its like its just a corner of the pic.

I think the fishstore made a mistake, i have a feeling that they are bolivian rams, but they do have some shiny blue on them. I feel they are still young so i cannot fully sex them yet. They are about 1.5 inches, so i think they have more to grow. Lately they have been getting more aggresive with eachother and the one which i presume is the male has a few fin pieces ripped out of his tail. I hope they are a male and a female, i dont want any fighting! They seem to nip at eachother, but i thought it was just breeding behavior. Can bolivian rams exhibit breeding behavior at such a young age?
