My Angels are currently laying eggs. But it is too difficult to see which one is actually laying as they get distracted when i get close and think i am about to feed the buggers.

So, how do i sex them by the shape of their vents? Their vents are external at the moment, so what shape is the male's and what shape is the female's?

I am pretty sure that the male's vent is a fine point and a female's is more rounded like a rain drop.

Also, though I think it doesn't always work, the male may have a bump on his forehead. The female will always lack this, but sometimes the male will lack it too(I think) and therefore you are forced to determine by vents anyway

Well good luck with them and congrats.

Is it that difficult to see the female laying eggs & the male fertilising them?.
Usually the female goes first & the male will follow her.

Pay attention jason He can't get close enough to the tank to see which is which without them stopping. Probably difficult once he got up to the tank to tell which went first or second.

If possible take some pictures & then see which is which.
If it's impossible to get close to the tank, how will he see their vents?.

They swim to the front of the tank when i come close.

Well... The white Angel's vent was smaller and sort of a triangle in shape. The black Angel's was longer and was sort of more of a tube. With a small crater at the tip. If that makes any sense.

The longer tube is probably the female After all it would make sense to have a crater-like opening for eggs to come out

Its actually really easy to notice.

Males have a small one, females have a much larger one.

Example (its geos, but the concept is about the same):

Female:

Male (Much Smaller):
