But, I have bred both of those fish in a tank with gravel substrate. As well, I have bred them in tanks with sand substrate. Aragonite is another good sand to use. Anything with a calcium ba As for plants, they will be fine. I have plants in 90% of my tanks, including with those fish. They will not harm the plants either. HTH..... There is always a bigger fish... |

Any of those finer ones would be great. I have used silica sand and crushed coral sand with equal success. Plants are only a concern when they get shifted or uprooted accidently by the fish in the course of their digging - anchored under rocks will keep them in the one spot. So Vals wouldn't last too long without being dislodged but anubias, java fern and also java moss wedged somewhere too is good. x |
