	Shellies....
MR_CICHLID Fish Addict Posts: 770 Kudos: 582 Votes: 124 Registered: 12-Aug-2003	I recently acquired a "pair" of Brevis.... Now They do seem very "paired" but you never know. My question is: Can you vent these little guys? Any other sure ways of sexing other than simply pairing from a group? Thx, Dave

The size difference is quite apparent, to start, and in striped varieties males typically have more and better-defined tail stripes. The facial shape is quite different, too; if you get a side-view shot of each fish I can pin 'em down for you, almost a sure thing. -Molly Visit shelldwellers.com!

littlemousling Conchiform Posts: 5230 Registered: 23-Aug-2003	They look pretty young to tell, but from the facial shape (a better bet than tail stripes, though the matching stripes of your fish make this a not-100% answer) says the top is a male, bottom's a female. If you look at good side-view shots of identified males and female you should see it - try tracing a few if you can't tell the difference right away. -Molly Visit shelldwellers.com!
