Shellies and snails | |

The waters where the shellies come from don't support many plants, and therefore I doubt the type of snails you're talking about. Shellies don't hunt snails and then take over their shells; they find the already empty shells and use them for safety and breeding. The type of shells most frequently associated with shellies are neothauma.
