I bought a few cichlids a while back, the tank was labeled sunshine peacocks, but I am pretty sure they are not, since they look nothing like the pictures I've seen. They are blue, with big vertical stripes (of dark blue color) and the tips of the back and top fins are a deep red.

Any suggestions of what these are actually, or some resource where I could look it up would be appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Does the fish look like that? The fish above is a pseudotropheus lombordoi.

Another fish that might be it is the pseudotropheus zebra "red dorsal"

As above the pseudotropheus zebra are also known as "Redtops" & "Redtop black bars" and i have never seen them with deep red fins.

Can you get a picture of him?

My camera has a very slow shutter speed, so it comes out very fuzzy.. hopefully this fuzzy picture is enough to identify it:

Thanks!

Odds are that it is a zebra of some color morph...if the colors were clearer I could probably help you. From my perspective, it's a close morph to the red dorsal shown above. The darker colorations may be signs of stress if you bought it recently.
