My sister is getting rid of all her livebearer fish, and has recently confessed an interest in Red Hump Eartheaters.
She is wondering about any info on them, tank size, fish size, grouping recommendations, and if they would be suited to temps of 76-80, and ph of about 7.0
Thanks.

They'll need around a 40 gallon for a pair, larger depending on how much you want. Typically it should be kept in pairs or groups. Smooth sand substrate is best since they sift through the substrate looking for food.

Males typically 6", usually smaller. Females are usually 5".

your pH and temp is fine.

Ok, her tank is 33Gallons.
She is wondering if she could keep a single male Eartheater in there with 1 angelfish.

Honestly, it is not reccomended, but you may be able to get away with it. Since they are relatively small (6", it'll most likely be okay. It would be better to get a female though, since they are less territorial and remain around 5". You might even get away with a pair.
