We just saw our angelfish eat a snail last night! It "rammed" it off the side of the tank and then sucked it in and spit out the shell. I thought maybe it just spit it out when it figured out what it was, but the shell looked empty and never moved again. This explains where all the snails go!
Anyone else heard of this or seen it?

someone in my trop tank is doing this... possibly the platies and possibly the kuhlis, but i'm not suprised. i've seen all sorts of fish have a shot at them, including goldies and bettas.

lol, I realized the thread title could sound a little funny when read the wrong way, oh well, keeps people guessing...
I guess the angel's snail eating behavior would normally be a good thing, but we keep getting this weird algae on the gravel and sides of the tank and wouldn't mind a few snails doing a little clean up in there. Oh well, I guess I'll just have to keep doing it myself...

I've got 3 breeding pairs and they eat the snails when they are small. I've never seen them eat anything bigger than a kernel of popcorn though.

So I posted yesterday that I'd never seen my angels eat bigger snails and today I'm cleaning my tanks. Nothing but empty shells for snails.

I'm betting its the kuhli's callatya. I've never seen or heard of any kind of loach that will turn up a chance at eating a snail, especialy one that'll spend time digging in the sand.
