This fish was gray in body.. and the fins were red!! Yellow egg spots on the anal fin i believe... who does this profile belong too? And those Orange Cichlids.. what are those and well.. how are they? Also i am curious about Mbunas and Johanni and can someone send or link me to a picture of a real peacock cichlid??? there are so many out there but i hope you guys can help me.. try not to send me to just a site to look around..as I can do that on my own.. I believe that the orange cichlids are Red Zebras, which are REALLY agressive. I think that there are pictures of peacocks under the profiles section of this site. ![]() |

acei![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Big Fish Posts: 316 Kudos: 291 Votes: 1 Registered: 18-Mar-2004 ![]() ![]() | i beleive the orange ones were in fact, red zebras. a fairly aggressive fish, needs good size tanks. mbunas are one of the three main species of cichlids in lake malawi. they are rock dwelling for the most part. they stay relatively small and are typically obnoxious and aggressive. very beautiful colors abound with mbuna. fun to keep. the other two types of ciclids are peacocks and haplochromes. peacocks are all aulonocara. if you find a website that lists fish by species. the aulonocara are the peacocks. i believe there are likely a hundred different species and types. the rest are called haplochromes or haps for short. these fish are usually less aggressive and get larger than other types. these usually need tanks of at least 75g. again, very colorfull and such a wide variety that it would be hard to get on one message here. for a good photo list and pictures go to www.cichlidlovers.com. check out the price list and click on the names of the fish. www.armkes.com has some great photos also. www.malawimayhem.com has a great species profile section that is worth keeping in your favorites. good luck, hope we helped you out. http://www.malawimayhem.com/profile_show.php?id=1 Last edited by acei at 21-Oct-2004 08:52 Last edited by acei at 21-Oct-2004 08:53 |
