	South American Ciclid Stocking For 40 Gallon?
rocker23 Hobbyist Posts: 105 Kudos: 70 Votes: 0 Registered: 23-Jun-2005	i need help with stocking my 40 gallon tank. is it possible to make a community tank of small peaceful ciclids for a 40gal? i have no idea if pair of bolivian rams. 4 keyhole ciclids (if i could get some) bn pleco anymore suggestions or would this be overstocked already? i haven't bought any fishies for it yet btw

dobsie Hobbyist Posts: 62 Kudos: 18 Votes: 0 Registered: 28-Mar-2002	By parrot do you mean the deformed hybrids that get to 8 inches. go with the rams or maybe some apistogramma cacatoides very entertaining fish and are dwarves male 2.5-3 inches while the females get to around 1.5 or a little smaller.

Okay, so they're African and not EXACTLY peaceful, but you could have a really cool setup in a 40 gal. Maybe you could do a single Jack Dempsey? I think the shellies would be a best bet if you want to have lots of fish. You could have a lot of really great ones in a tank that size.
