Hi

im finally taking back my 2 elongatus mpangas which have grown extremely aggressive and territorial.

Now my stocking is:
3 peacocks
5 electric yellows
1 bn

is that a good stocking level?
can anyone suggest other cichlids i could add
non-aggressive)

thanks!

You could get more Yellow labs. If you can find them, Acei are not too aggressive. Also, Rusty Cichlids aren't too aggressive either.

Cali. found the most beautiful cichlid! The page it's on wouldn't transfer over to this one, but it's in the recovery room under, 'Great Britain."

fish patty - That is a gorgeous fish Cali found however i couldnt imagine finding them anywhere here in Australia... of course if anyone here has found them i would love to know where!

thanks for the reply girly. i dont want any more yellow labs as i think 5 is enough. i will keep my eye out for acei though. i havent seen rusty cichlids around.

would a dolphin cichlid work ?

any other suggestions are more than welcome.

I found this:
The Malawi Blue Dolphin is a beautiful big fish, with males reaching up to 11" in the aquarium and females around 8". They have very aggreeable temperments which makes them a pleasure to keep and breed though remember, they take patience to grow up and get spawning!

from HERE. They will outgrow a 55g, but if you plan to move your Africans to a larger tank, they would be a good match with the Yellow labs. If you don't plan to upgrade, I'd skip them.

by peacocks, what do you mean. Thats pretty general as there are more agressive peacocks than others. If your looking to add another color you can try some afra's but only the males really color up and they seem to take forever to get that color, or if you can get your hands on cobalt zebras(metriclima callinios), which shouldn't be that hard as they are fairly common, they would work out alright as well. I also suggest acei, some look really nice.

BTW, peaceful cichlid is a bit of an oxymoron

By all means marry; if you get a good wife, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

thanks wiseives - and i know what you mean by peaceful cichlid being an oxymoron however when i compare my elongatus mpanga to my peacocks, my peacocks do appear to be peaceful!

my peacocks are an auloncara species however havent quite determined which! they are fairly timid things.
will keep an eye out for cobalt blues and acei, also will look for afras.

thanks
