If you want an angel in a 29g, 1 is your limit, and even that will be pushing it once the angel is fill grown. To go with your angel you could get a school of corys or a group of loaches or a small pleco like a bristlenose, a school or two of tetras like black neons, skirts, etc. etc., a couple rams or other small peaceful cichlids, guppys, platys, swordtails, otos... Those are a few sugestions. Just watch your stocking limit and keep up with your maintenance.

Well Gart the angels I was looking at were approx. quarter size and they will be going to at least a 55 gallon, so I was thinking maybe 2 at most. What types do you suggest would stand out stunningly with a dark aquarium.

If they're eventually going into a 55g, that'll be fine. Exactly what look are you going for? Golds and whites (if you can find any) would stick out like a sore thumb, while kois, marbles and silver striped would be more subtle but still stick out.

What other fish are you thinking of?

I was wanting some the white blushing ones. Other fish would include a pleco, cory cats, black neons, and larger guppies. Any other suggestions?

I have a 46g setup with:

2 Angels
10 Cardinals
8 Rummynose
3 Blue rams
4 otos
4 dwarf plecos

And the angels grew really fast I bought them the size of a nickel and one is the size of a silver dollar and the look
cramped in my 46g.

By the way one of the nicer larger tetras are the Congos.

Personally I'd bump the numbers up to 8-10 b neons, 6-8 flame tetras, and 6-8 harleys

i would pick one of those schoolers and push the numbers up. i have a 75g tank with 15 neons in it with plans of another large school of something. one big school is tons better then 5-6 fish.

I use to be into angelfish a while back and you could get more than 2 angels into a 29 if they did not pair up.

If you got a pair you may have a problem as they will get aggresive and chase all the other fish you are looking at.

If you are going to do a 55 I would get maybe 6 juvie angelfish and grow them out till they pair.

If you want to make a community tank I would puts some plants to break up the tank so the other fish can dodge the angels agression.

I also agree the larger the school od tetras, neons, etc...
the better.

Hope this helps, Herman

Neon tetra stock is of very poor quality. Go with cardinals they are much healther and grow bigger. I have a school of cardinals with my Silver dollar size angel without a problem.

Are not Neon Tetras a poor choice to mix with Angelfish? I thought Angels ate Neons. I have Serpae Tetras with my Angels and they get along beautifully.

Angels will eat anything they can catch and that is small enough.

populer belief..angels snack on neons like you would pop gummy bears. realisticly they will hutn down thier fry and eggs and maybe small versions of neons. get neons 1st...grow them out large...and i highly doubt an angel will attempt to snack on them. this of course is only my opinion.
