Some kind of friends of mine have an ocsar in a 20 gallon hex. They have had it in there for about 1.5 years now. Poor little guy. Here is my question: By this point what are the odds that it will get very big? I am thinking of putting it in a 55 gallon. I just really don't want to see it there any more. Also what are the odds that my 5.5" male Convict will kick his butt? I would hate to seem my con tear him up. The oscar is probably 3.5 inches ish? I plan on adding him in once the lights are off and messing with the tank to give it some new territory . What do you guys all think??? 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |

As for the convict, he probably will pick fights with him, but if you re-arrange everything and do it at night like you said it shouldn't be too bad. Just watch them and see what happens, it's worth a shot, i mean that is better than a 20 gallon hex. |

My oscar out grew my 55, so I had to give him to a LFS that specialized in big fish, i was pretty bummed out, you get attached to a fish like that. |

I picked him up tonight and I am in the process of getting him used to my water. (In a bucket of his old tank water(that was yellow)and slowly adding my tank water to the mix.) I am going to start moving some my rock work and stuff around just before the lights go out on this tank and I will add him in sometime after that. Thanks for your help so far! P.S. GrimZ???? How are your Convicts doing?? 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |

No fighting has broken out yet. My male Convict doesn't seem to pay too much attention to the new Oscar. He has chased him a round a little bit but no worse than the other fish in the tank. Most of the time when he starts after the oscar he get distracted with one of the other fish and chases after them in stead. Still keeping a close eye on this tank though! For the most part he doesn't even seem to care that the oscar is in there. Now the trick is going to be to fatten this little guy up. I will post a new thread for that though. 19G Container Pond [IMG]http://i4.photobucket.com/albums/y118/Wingsdlc/Ric |
