I don't think you are supposed to keep jewel cichlids with any other cichlid because of how agressive they can be. How big are the Oscar and Jewel? Also, how big is the tank? You might just want to return the jewel for the reason above.

Do you have other fish with them?. 125 gal. is a good sized tank. Keep an eye on them & remove the Jewel if you see any foul play.

Well i took the jewel back today i dont know who is more upset me or my oscar because i took his "play thing" away (it was in the best interests of the jewel) if my oscar was quick enough and not a lazy the jewel would not have lasted aslong as he did befor i took him out!

anyway

i got a FULL credit note from the shop (first time ever) normally 1/2 back so i bought some clouds for my oscar to "play with"

10 mins later

GONE

some people may think thats harsh but IMO white clouds are bread as feeders and my oscar loves them i only feed them once a month as a treat

Awwwww- those are one of my favorite fish!!!
Geez you pay like 3 bucks a pop for em here.
I would never feed em to another fish. Thats what ugly old
messy goldfish are for.

Im glad you took the jewel back.
You could be better off to get the oscar another oscar to play with.

I had a mystery hybrid cichlid who was a bit too 'friendly' with his playmates After he ummmm, cleaned out the tank I got him involved with more durable toys Unfortunately the tank ends up looking something like a playpen but at least the fish is happy.

Some favorites were a plastic sand shovel, plastic spoons, rubber dog toys, the baskets aquarium plants come in, plastic plants, those plastic 'gems' for small tanks, and ping pong balls.

Hehe, nice tank Theresa. Instead of white clouds, why not try and keep giant danios with him? They are pretty big and go none stop. Or, you could go with a trio of silver dollars, since your tank is large enough. Poor Poor white clouds
