this is a pic of one one of my angels

why doesnt it work

anyway they are great fish there mildly aggressive and may eat a neon or 2 when there large. they are very easy to feed and reasonably hardy.

I would say, 20Gal. tank per Angel. Remember that the tank must be high, as Angels get quite big & long fins.

I have two angels in my 46g and they look cramped. The tank is 20inches high. One is bigger than a silver dollar and one is about the size of a silver dollar. The look much better in bigger tanks.

A 30 gallon is usually the size tank recommended for a single pair of angels. I think you could get away with it.

Be aware that due to the body shape of an angel, higher tanks are strongly recommended. The taller the tank the better for them. Irregular tanks like display tanks and special breeder tanks often make great homes for angels.

I'm sure that there's SOME variety that stays smaller than others...as there are just sooooo many. But I can't really help you out there. Sorry...HTH a bit.

You could put an Angel in a 10 gallon too. I'm just saying too fully appreciate them you need a big tank.

I don't believe there are any angel varieties that stay small. These fish reach a foot tall from top fin to bottom fin.

LFS's usually only carry P. Scalare, which comes in a variety of colors. They all reach about 10 inches in height. P. Altum is, on VERY rare occasians, also carried...but i think they get bigger and are more fragile.

I would NOT put 2 angels in a 30 gallon. They get too big. I wouldn't put ONE angel in a 30 gallon, personally, though it can be done. A pair in a 30 gallon would be for breeding purposes only, and they would be alone. Probably a bare-bottom tank as well. These fish just get too big. I have an almost adult male in a 55 gallon. I would never put him in something smaller. They are a really tall fish, and pretty long too.

If you're really set on having an angel, go for it. But don't get 2. You can get a black and white angel, and name it danvel or something.

They shade the glow of it with their mossy-misty costumes,
They wear masks of silk, porcelain, brass, and silver,
So as not to mislead with their own, ordinary faces.
