most of it would depend on tank size, tankmates, and the fishes personality. also there is no different species of oscar. there all the same species just different color morphs

Wouldn`t it be a matter of different fishes? Some species of Oscars are more aggresive tha others so that list of the 22 could easily be wrong as different fish have different personalities and he may not have kept a cichlid that is a more aggresive cichlid than the ones he has kept

Yeah most think they are quite but they are a fish that can take a beating and come back and dominate. I watched the lfs man put a smallish red head into a 200g tank with an established colleny of salvini and the dominant male chased the poor thing around for the whoule time i was there and probly the rest of the day. The next sundy when i returned the synspilum had the big male baled up behind the power-head, so i bought this exact synspilum and solved everyones problems.i think its the synspilums staying power that makes it tough.

I found this list on another site that with members who have claimed to have owned all these fish and ranked the top 22 most aggressive cichlids. I'm merely going to list them instead of linking because the language on most other forum sites is not FP.com appropriate.

1. Nandopsis beani
2. Neolamprologus christyi
3. Telmatochromis dhonti
4. Caquetaia umbriferum
5. Parachromis dovii
6. Nandopsis haitiensis
7. Amphilophus festae
8. Parachromis motaguensis
9. Nandopsis istlanum
10. Nandopsis salvini
11. Nandopsis grammodes
12. Herichthys bartoni
13. Hemichromis fasciatus
14. Nandopsis uropthalmus
15. Melanochromis sp. 'Giant pike/Giant black and white pike' auratus
16. Amphilophus saggitae
17. Amphilophus zaliosus

You really think synspilum would be that high? I've always heard they were more passive in the genus and that P. bifasciatus and P. fenestratum were much more aggressive.

In no particular order:

Black Nasty--Nandopsis haitiensis
Blue Freckled Monster--Caquetaia umbriferum
Red Terror--Amphilophus festae
Red Devil Complex--Amphilophus citrinellum, A. labiatum and A. zaliosum
Nandopsis beani

Jason

ps. Oscars wouldn't rank in the top 25 most aggressive
