Hi all, I recently got my hands on 2 Duboisi. and have decided to invest in getting a species tank of them, they will soon be in a 4 ft tank (48*18*16) and the question came up, could I keep clown loaches with them? (I currently have 3 clown loaches in that 4 ft tank with my colony of cobalt zebras, which are soon to be moved to a bigger home). As they are only 1 inch long, they are to live in a 3ft till the time comes for the move, but just wondering if they need some bottom feeders to keep the tank clean. Thanks all.

Where did you get them from? You do know that duboisi are vegitarians and high amounts of protine can kill them. And one of the clown loaches favorite foods is, blood worms very high in protine so im afraid i'll have to say no. please don't put them together you'll kill your duboisi. Other people will tell you that they come from different water conditions but i tend to ignor it because unless their from the wild it wont really mater.

This my second time around with Duboisi, and yes I know they have little to no protien in their diet, they are strictly feed on vege's and the like. My LFS, he got Duboisi and Moorii in, I have 2 Moorii in a 3 ft tank with a bristlenose.

you have to make sure your water quality is very good and ONLY feed spirulina or veggies like lettuce or spinach. for this reason, they're not a good match with clown loaches.

tropheus do best in large colonies in a species-specific tank. they don't do well in small groups and a large M/F ratio is best (like 1/5).

they're very cool fish but tough to take care of.

Would they be ok with a top dweller like an African Butterflyfish? All you have to feed them is some flakes and thats ok and the occasional cricket and they will be fine.

Duboisi are quite a bossy fish and the butterfly would just be a floating target and would be constantly picked on.
