I have a 50 gallon tank that Is now empty awaiting fish. A friend of mine has some baby electric yellows for me if I want them. I don't have to take them. Is it possible to keep electric yellows with Tropheus Duboisi? I know the tropheus' are vegetarians. Can the electric yellows live on a vegie diet?

Here are some pics of the empty tank.

yellows are mostly vegitarian, in fact too much protein leaves them susteptible to bloat, a common problem in malawi cichlids, i'd be more worried that anything in the tropheus family may bully the yellows though a second opinion may be required on that!

Ok, I just went to the shop and got 2 little duboisis and the guy said that they can be kept together because both are small at the moment and it helps if they grow up together.

IMO, the tank is too small to house both of those fish. The tropheus will bully the labs. Even if they grow up together. If you had more like a 150 gal with plenty of rockwork, I would say they will be fine, but I don't feel that in a 50 gal, they will be OK together.

allways be weary of what fish shops tell you, there trying to make money and have little concern for the well being of your fish (ususaly not allways)
