Here's a little story about my rams which some of you might find interesting.

I've had a breeding pair of rams (who actually never succeeded in breeding, but kept on trying) but about two weeks ago the male has died. Not wanting to leave the female completely alone I went out and bought a new male. I didn't think about breeding as I knew they would probably not pair, I just wanted her to have some company. I bought the male ten days ago and indeed he was coy and the female was arrogant and didn't even look at him.

All until yesterday, when suddenly they both coloured up significantly and have started flirting with each other, which in my experience means that they're getting ready for breeding (or at least attempting to breed). Not that I'm bothered too much about them breeding, I didn't do anything to encourage them to breed and I'm not going to do anything more (they're in a community tank). I just thought that some of you would find this story interesting...

I've heard the Bolivian Rams can be very particular about who choose to mate with.

It sounds like they hit it off.

Rams are really easy to breed. After buying mine from a tank of about 100, they spawned two days later. If their well conditioned with good water, the odds are they'll spawn.
