I've heard people that say 3 full grown angles are already pushing the limits in a 55gal. These guys grow really big. My largest angel is already 8in height and 6in width!! And the ones I have are domesticly breed. If u have the wild ones they grow even bigger!! Just a thought I'd let u know. Second if they are baby angels they will eventually pair up and the problem arrives after that when they breed (apparently I've heard one of my LFS dudes said that the more angels the more the aggesssion is distrubuted; I'm still not sure abt this though). Angels are peaceful in general only males being really territorial to it's own kind. They get really aggresive when they are breeding and they will kill anything that get near their eggs. I lost an angel because of breeding of a pair. Diodon_hystrix Wrote: Generally speaking angels are peaceful fishes that can be mix with other fish. Like all other cichlids they are bad bad when breeding. Hope I helped u a bit Good luck Gee !!I think I just learned somthing new!! |

For that size, I would say a max of 3 should be kept. If 2 pair off then I would keep them, instead of 3. And during breeding they get aggressive, so its usually best to keep only one...if you want a community tank. So, if you get rid of atleast 3 angels, you could have any kind of tetra with them. I wouldn't put neons or cardinals with them because if you attempt to keep them with angels, it is best to add them first. So there are many choices of tetras: Rummynose, Flame, Lemon, Pristellas, black neons, head and tailight, and the list goes on... Harlequin rasboras are good also. You can also have cories with angels. I would just be cautious of the angels breeding. I think they lay eggs towards the bottom of the tank...so that may pose a problem for the cories if they breed and defend the eggs. Pretty much all types of peaceful fish can be kept with angels. Like all other cichlids they are bad bad when breeding. Yep. |

Just when you buy them, make sure you get decent sized ones - mine are almost 3/4 of an inch in length when I bought them. I've added cardinals after the fact with angelfish with no ill-effects. And if they're small angels, they're less likely to try and prey on them since the cards would be bigger. Neons I find to be fussier and harder to keep than cardinals. As for stocking - I'd get rid of three angels, and either get some rummynose, cardinals, or cochu's blue tetras. The cochu's are bigger than the cardinals, as are the rummynose... |

If you get a pair from the remaining 4 Angels, that the other 2 back & get a school of Corydoras & you finish up with a pair of Angels & 2 schools of Tetras & Corydoras. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/s8xi5heh/my_photos http://www.geocities.com/s8xi5heh/classic_blue.html http://groups.yahoo.com/group/buzaqq/ http://www.deathbydyeing.org/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |
