I think it could be a Thread-finned acara.

It looks an aweful lot like it only without the extensions and not AS colorful in your pic, but body shape and just general look lead me towards thread-finned acara.

The spot in the middle of its side gives it away that it isn't a keyhole.

[edit] Nevermind, the blue spangles also give it away that it's not a keyhole, but it can't be a thread-finned acara because the cuadal fin is too rounded.

Then again...like stated before it could be a jewel cichlid, but I really don't know.

I would have to say Geophagus brasiliensis aka the Pearl cichlid.

I agree w/ Jason. At first I didn't think there was any way because I'm used to Geophagus having a longer bridge.

Fine, you don't listen when I tell you it was a geophagus brasiliensis in the earlier topic. I see how it is.

Only pulling your leg.

Also, they are one of the most common geophags I know of. Far from rare, but a great fish nonetheless.

a male brasiliensis should grow to around 10" but it will take several years. also, these are commonly reported as one of the more aggressive Geophagus but that's just in comparison to other Geophagus. So, if yours is a male it may get a bit rowdy when it gets older, but nothing like you'd see from a Green terror or texas cichlid.

If I remember correctly, the brasiliensis is difficult to sex. males and females look very similar so going by external features can be difficult. you should be able to vent him or her at about 4-6" though.

It's definitely not a Jewel, coz I have Jewels, but it looks like one of the larger cichlids.
