I have just started a 33 gal mbuna tank. I currently have 4 pseudotropeous socolofi and 3 yellow labs. They are all about 1.5 inches. I am almost positive that I have 2 male socolofi's. They force the two females and the yellow labs to other rocks. I just want to know if I should take a male back or trade it for another or buy more females. What should I do?

Exchange a male for a female & you'll have a 1 male & 3 female. It's better this way.

There is a problem. I can't tell the males from the females without keeping them.

let them mature a little, once they are mature, u should be able to tell. Then you exchange.

I am concerned because they have started to chase each other and the yellow labs are on the less dominant side.

None of the fish are thin or have tattered fins but the yellow labs seem to have trouble because the two male have there territories right in the front.

I doubt they'd kill each other.

once it is all established, the pecking order will be fine and territories will be settled. Of course, there will always be "countries" fighting over new territories like The U.S.A. and Spain back during the revolution.
