Just got a 30 gallon tank at a garage sale this weekend for $30!!! Anyways, it's quite tall so I was thinking of getting a pair of Angelfish for it. I have heard that they eat neons, although the lfs has a show tank with one large black angelfish and a school of the larger congo? tetras in with it. They also have chocolate gouramis, and what I think is a pair of either kribs or rams.
Anyways, what could I put in there with the angelfish? I would like some bottomfeeders, probably corys or maybe some ghost shrimp. What other fish will get along with angels?

Hi,

I have a single angelfish in with 4 bolivian rams, 4 black phantom tetras, 2 otocinlcus, and a clown pleco. Except for feeding times when the angel is a jerk, they all get on fine...it's a 29 gallon tank (30"x12"x18".

Personally, if I were you I'd consider gettin 4 angels (2 largest and two smallest at the LFS), a smalls school of corys, and a dwarf plecostomus and have an angelfish breeding pair in the long run. I really like my angel (except for being snarky at dinner time), and I'd love to have a pair except my tank is primarily set up to breed my bolivian rams.

If you want to go with a single angelfish, most dwarf cichlids, medium sized tetras (cardinal size or larger), etc. should work fine.

Eric

I think a school of rummynose tetras looks really good with an angel. One LFS has a planted tank like that and it looks really sharp.

I would go with a pair of Angels, 6 Corydoras & a school of Tetra's, maybe Rummynose or Emperor.

I would put Loaches or Cories for the bottom and Gouramis for the top. Then maybe some Platies, Guppies or Swordtails.

If you go with loaches pick something that doesn't get too big.

I think once the Angels get big the shrimp would be dinner.

Have fun, Mike

In my 30g long I have 1 angel, a pair of kribs, 1 sparkling gourami, 3 lined cories, dwarf loaches, and a school of black phantom tetras.

My 29g has 1 angel, German rams, platies, a paradise fish, and loaches.
