I would like 2 angels for my tank, but was wondering...will 2 angels get along if they are not a "pair"? Or will they fight?

What size tank? I personally don't like keeping more than one angel per 20-30 gallons, though that's just me... Most of my angels have gotten along fine.

I'm so adjective, I verb nouns!

About the only time angels do fight is when there is a pair involved. Either the pair driving off other fish, including other angels or sometimes the get a little rough with each other. Nothing serious just a little spat if one, usually the male , wants to spawn and the other isn't cooperating.

I keep pairs in a 29 gallon, usually with a few other fish in there with them and they do fine. A tall tank is important, 18" is about what you need. If your 30 or 27 is about that I'd go for it.

Have fun, Mike

30 is too small for a Angel. They get as big as Severum's, are nearly as aggressive, and people recommend a min. of 75 for severums. If you can get tank at least 40" long, 20" tall, and holding at least for gallons of water, then you may consider angels.

Otherwise, two unpaired angels should be okay together. I've never heard of any problems in that situation.

2 Angels are fine together, even if they aren't a pair.

You must have a good sized tank to keep them both in & not a small tank. Angels grow big & need lots of water space to swim in.

Every book I've read and just about every webpage recommends a minimum of 25 gallons for a pair, so two unpaired likely will do fine in a 30. What's the height of your tank? I keep reading they need at least 18" depth.

My tank is 18 inches high...I did research first before putting them in there. If they do start to outgrow it, I'll just have to get a bigger tank... (I'm already inquiring about a 90 gallon I saw for sale)
