yeah that is what most people tell me is to watch out for the RD. well, i heard that ome red devils beat up other fish, and others are tolerant (to an extent), and i also heard that others are scared timid fish. (i find that hard to believe??) well i have a LFS corner fish store that will be willing to take him/her if it gets too bad.

i don't think getting a red devil is a good idea. i've had a really bad experiences with that kinda fish. they don't even have to be fully grown to be able to beat up other fish for no good reason=P

I would also be concerned about 2 JDs...are you think of a M/F pair? If so there could be some potential problems if they breed.

well, i already have the RD in my 30 (dont worry, he is only 2 inches and will be moved into my 125 within 2 weeks). If he/she becomes a problem, i have a corner LFS that will take it in. AS far as the 2 JDs go, I was thinking about a M/M mix or a F/F mix... unsure as of now.

I would go with one of each of the fish you listed. You may run the risk of getting a pair of JD.

2 jack dempsey males will probably fight with each other quite a bit. that size tank may give them enough room to escape from each other but imo it's a bad idea to keep conspecific males in the same tank.
