I currently have a 55G with 5 yellow labs and 1 blue zebra (oranged finned). I have plenty of caves and was thinking about adding something else. Any ideas of another species that would do alright w/ them.

By all means marry; if you get a good wife, you'll be happy. If you get a bad one, you'll become a philosopher.

1 male peacock(aulonacara sp), Synodontis catfish(1 or more depending on type), Bristle nose pleco. Or some dither fish such as Rainbow fish.

I've seen that acei are a lot more agressive than the yellows. I put a pair in my tank and they bullied everything.

Acei would work(I find them aggresive/others don't),so get a good group(5+ ). Rainbows do great with Tang cichlids, but would fair well with EL's(just watch the zebra). If your looking for a centerpiece, go with a male peacock of your choice(do fine with EL's).

Actually ended up getting 3peacocks & so far so good after 4 days. On a sad note I lost one of my labs. I made the mistake of taking off the end piece on the filter tube to clean it off while I was doing maintenece, thinking that all the fish would be too large & too powerful to be sucked in. However I was wrong, I didnt even notice until the next day when I realized the filter was not working. So now I'm down to four Labs
So sad to loose a fish like this, she had been in there for about 6 months.
