My best guess is that the males are more brightly colored. I'd get some more females to balance the males. Weee!

I've got a fever... and the only prescription... is more cowbell!

the male can have blue speckle on their tail, and also their dark black line is much deeper.

From what I've heard, male yellow labs tend to have more black on their anal and pelvic fins than do females. This method (like any other) isn't foolproof, though.

venting them is ur best bet otherwise just get a group and begin watchin looking for the female holding her eggs.

I am no expert by any means but have kept Yellow labs for a while now so will share what I have found so far.

From my own experiences (which tend to be correct most of the times), males - like others have mentioned tend to have more and stronger black colours on their fins. Some even have one or two egg spots on their anal fins. Their head are also more pointy/elongated than the females.

Females on the other hand can have less black colourings and sometimes lack it in the pelvic and anal fins. they tend to have a shorter body than males of the same age and heads tend to be shorter (distance from the tip of the nose to the forehead is shorter) than similarly aged males.

Of course, venting is the best way to do determine sexes of any fish.

Just my own opinion.

The males are more brightly coloured & they have more black on their fins.

It's better to have 1 male & 2 females.
