Well I have now found a good home for my four angel fish and they seem to be very happy with their new home. I was thinking of replacing them with a Yellow Severum but I know very little about them! Could someone give me some info on them? I need to know if the need special water conditions? or if the are quite happy with the average aquarium water conditions? What they like to eat? If they are happy to be alone or need a mate? How they get along with other fish? and most of all what there temperament is like? Are they peaceful and get on with their own thing ignoring the other fish? or are the aggressive and need to be in a special cichlid tank? I know they would eat small fish but mine are all bigger fish so no problems there.

I'm pretty sure that they have severum info on here and the conditions are the same for all colours. I have however heard that the Gold/Yellow Sev is more peaceful than the green.

They'll do fine in the same conditions you kept your Angels in. They do get pretty big though. I had one that was 6+ inches w/o the tail.

I feed mine cichlid pellets, blood worms and brine shrimp. When they are small they'll eat flakes too.

They like hanging out in flower pots and pipes.

They are a little cranky and will sometimes get after other fish and each other if you have more than one. The big one I had I kept with an Oscar because it would beat the snot out of anything smaller. The three I have now are more mellow. One is in with loaches, firemouths and the Oscar. The other two are in with Angels.

Good luck, they're cool fish, Mike

my gold severum has grown from 2-3 inches when I got him about two months ago to 6-7 inches & the chap at my LFS said they go to 11 inches!

He's very piecfull, loves river shrimp, giant bloodworms, or any live food, but will eat pellets or flake when hungry.

I have a cichlid set up with higher ph & temp & he seams fine. He's just getting brave enough to eat big food from my hand.

Hope this helps.

Anita.
