Oh my, that is a gorgeous fish.

I find that most Synos are pretty pricy now. I swear I bought my Featherfin for aobut $10, but they're now about $15 for little babies about one inch long. I don't remeber mine ever being that small, he's over 5 inches now. Also a good pic for cichlid tanks.

These are well cool and can stand up to bigger Cichlids

Get some a these, check compatibility with shell dwellers though !!

True that. A multi colony would look great.

29 gallon..lake tangs would give a lot more variety.. some shellies and a couple of smaller variety Julis would work with Syno Petricolas..........

Good point, if you want a pleco get a rubbernose or pitbull.

my plecos only took a few months to jump from 2 inches to 6 inches... and I started them in a 10g tank. They really aren't slow growers if you feed them the right stuff. I fed them fresh zuccini, algae wafers, and various greens and they're size shot up. Plecos make more mess than they clean so they aren't a choice for anything less than a 100-125g+ tank

Yeah, that's what I said!
Anyway, many plecos are amazon fish and like acidic water. African chichlids like basic.

My pleco jumped from 2 inches to 6 inches in 3 months. Not what I'd call slow.

k you can get them small and they grow very slowly so in the case he upgraded his tank he would have a fair sized pleco

If you want rift lake cichlids then for mbuna a trio of yellow labs or rusties would work. There are many possibilites for tangaykins. I would suggest doing what the others said and just find out what you like.

I would not recommend getting a regular pleco. Poor thing wouldn't be able to grow in a lil 29 gallon. Sure they can do well with cichlids, but in a way bigger tank.

if you have lots of rock make hiding places for the new fish you are planning to put in there.. once you have a established tank....with fish in it.. make sure that you add new fish in groups cuz with africans they will pick on the fish that are stessed out so get a group in there if your adding new ones so they dont get picked on as much... and a lg rep pleco not a expensive pleco.. regulars can stand the aggresion of africans..
