About two years ago we bought 4 angels. Now we know that 2 are rouge males and we have a breeding pair. They have laid eggs, of all places on the siphon tube for the hob filter. Lights went out and the eggs were gone. The pair have continued to GUARD 1/2 of this 55 gl tank. I have changed the tank decorations around, but this has not helped. Any suggestions?

Ok, can I move the breeding pair to a 29gl? That is what I have in the garage waiting to be set up. My lfs has offered to take all of my angels off my hands because of their size. I like all of them. Which should I trade if need be... the breeding pair is a silver and a marble. The two rouge males are a gold and black veil. I am not too hip on having 200 baby angelfish

2 angels will do fine in a 29 gallon. And as for fry, there are certain fish that will take care of that problem for you (the other male angels). But, if if you don't want the fry, having your angels breed is a good sign that they like each other and you are doing a good job with them.

I would keep the breeding pair in the 29 gal. tank & try to breed them & the other 2 in the 55 gal. tank.

If you don't want the fry, than breeding them in a second tank will only insure they're survival. With the rouge males, your angels will breed, which is healthy, but there will not be and offspring.

Kind of a rogue question here, and I don't mean to be a bother, but how do you tell which angel is the male and which is the female in the pair?

Goodluck with them, by the way!

Kind of figured it out when the female did not get as big as the other three, and the three guys have humps on their heads. Also, the behavior towards each other. The female can do whatever she wants...
