They go through some major lip-locking, shimmying, and a swirling swim thing together, kind of hard to describe. As I write this the acara is moving newly hatched wigglers from her pot to a pit she dug in the gravel ![]() ~~~~~~~~~~~~ There is water at the bottom of the ocean |

They will take turns chasing each other. I have 2 German Rams and they do the same. I was hoping they would pair up but instead they chose seperate territories on each end of my 55 gallon. Both of mine are males. FreeBlaze |

They fight, then they make up and they are sweet to each other until next time. It's quite easy to see when they're fighting and when they're flirting, in my opinion. When flirting they will rub their bodies, wiggle in excitement, follow each other and even push each other with their mouths, which they also do when they fight, but in a more aggressive way. In any case, even if they are not a couple and they have a fight, no harm is usually inflicted on any of them and they will soon "mark" their territories. This is also interesting to see because the fish will usually swim up to their mark and stop there, while the other is carefully observing that the line hasn't been crossed. when the line has been crossed there might be a short fight but it won't last for long. You must love rams. |
