what kind of cichlids do you have?
alot of times you just have to be patient. these things dont grow super fast.

Hatch some brine shrimp to feed them and they'll grow. Also frequent water changes help. Like every other day or so.

Good luck, Mike

which is it? they won't eat or they won't grow? also, what kind(s) of cichlids do you have and approx. how big are they? what size tank are they in and how often do you do water changes?

if you can answer these questions it will be a lot easier to help you out.

dont ever change the water every other day. that is bad for the bacteria in the tank. change the water 25% 2 times per month. Cichlids are fast growing some faster than others, oscars grow the fastest - 1/2 inch every week and a half.

that's not entirely true. many breeders change 10% of the water in their fry tanks daily. also, 25% every 2 weeks is not enough for overstocked tanks or larger cichlids. I change 50-75% weekly or bi-weekly in all my tanks. I know people that change 50% twice a week. the more you change the water, the cleaner it will be and the faster they'll grow.

Not to rob this topic, but if I changed my water only 25% twice/month that would not cut it in my african tank, I do weekly 25-33% changes.

as long as your tanks biological capacity is high enough, you should be able to perform large water changes daily. changing the water has little effect on your biofiltration. you can stress your fish out with too many/not properly done water changes.
i do 50% water changes weekly on my malawi tanks. the tangs dont seem to handle frequent water changes like the malawi's for some reason.
