Quite frankly, I don't know if 2 oscars is that bad. O, don't get me wrong, it's not ideal. But you could have them in there at least for a good time. Depending on the size they are now (some are sold as small as 1" you can have them in there for several months or even years. I doubt you bought full grown oscars so you have some time to buy a new tank down the road. I'm sure you can't get a 120 or 180 gallon ATM, but in a few years, you might be in a different situation.

Even if you have 2 14" adult oscars in a 60 gallon, they won't die. You'll have to get super filtration, not just good and you'll have to be dedicated in water changes. They might be a little squeezed, but it is better than the care they would get if you returned them anyway.

I wouldn't even think of convicts or dempsey's. You would have to get rid of your oscars to get them and if you did, you'd still only be able to get like 2 fish in a tank. I'd stick with the oscars.

i agree with angeleel, convicts would be great! there cool because if you get a male and a female your tank will be filled with fry very quickly....

You can have two red bellies in a 60, but the idea of convicts isnt a bad one, for a single agressive fish i would suggest a red devil, they will eat live food and are very smart and entertaining.

RBP can reach about 14 inches, so a 20 gallon is not enough, they like to school so the calculation is

big fish + school = big tank. if forced into a smaller tank, they will begin to attack eachother and it will not work.

my thought would be move the convict that u might get/or have into the 60 and not the 20.

i think an adlut male mida cichlid will do ok in a 60. often they will grow up as beautyful aggressive cichlid. please only get one, due to they are very aggressive when they are adults.

Oh I got it, I know JUST what your looking for.

Convicts!!!

You could keep more then one and the are VERY agressive, even more so with young.

The young could also be sold to the pet store to help pay for the bigger Oscar tank.

Please belive me, I am telling the truth when i say it is VERY hard to keep alive two Oscars in that size tank.

As well as keeping it clean. You want a nice tank to show people don't you not one that is all scummy that you can't see through.

Convicts my man!!

It's okay bring back your oscars for a store credit and wait until you have a big tank.

Angel Eel

Edit: These fish may not "eat" fish like you want but they are still a huge kick to watch when they get mad.

RIRI, You are so far from right with one female and one male, at this age you cannot sex nor can you stuff two mating fish in a tank that small. May bets are they would not even mate.
