These poor fish get to about eight inches long. I would not suggest them as a pet, because they are hybrids, man-made fish.

There's a big difference between selective breeding and culling for traits and hybrid fish, you know.

Hybrids are a mix of to separete species, while selective breeding deals with only breeding the best of one species. For ex. the common guppy is drab while the fancy guppy is colorful. They are not hybrids but bred selectively for color.

*steers thread back to the original point*

The usually is 8 inches, I have heard some getting up to 10 inches. Make sure you have a large enough tank for them.

I must admit, the idea that selective breeding in one species is different from selective breeding in two species is kind of humorous. At the very least, I would think most people would be more against selective breeding within a single species since that involves inbreeding and produces greater rates of disease and mutations...

Parrotfish should be assumed to get up to 10" in length and need about 55 gallons before they should be kept. Also, make sure the ones you get are bright orange and not dyed some other color...

PM/email/msg me if you have any questions/comments regarding me or my knowledge or if you want me to read a thread.
