The best way to sex rams is to check out the dorsal fin. Males have a 'spike' in the front of their dorsal fin, while females lack this. The above article probably mentions this. As for Bolivian rams, sexing is a little more difficult. As mentioned, it is nearly impossible to sex immature Bolivian rams. However, adult males have nice long filaments on the ends of their caudal and (I believe) dorsal fins. |

Bolivians are VERY hard to sex when young. When older, the males are bigger and have flowing filaments on the tail fin...it's very obvious then. German rams - I've not kept them. There is a great article on how to sex them on the web, but I've lost the site. Google german rams and kribs at the same time - the site has great pages on both...that might help. Eric |

But I know for certain that female german blue rams have a pinkish patch on there side just behind the pectoral fin, and males tend to have a more noticable " mohawk " on their dorsal fin. |
