What are you talkin about breeding blue with blue i pretty sure wher're not talkin about electric blue dempseys but about Sciaenochromis ahlihttp://www.fishprofiles.com/profiles/fw/profile.asp?id=Sciaenochromis+ahli. am i wright or wrong. I also am trying to breed these and i have a male and 2 females and have had no luck.

I assume u talking about the electric blue cichlid since it's in the Cichlid Central fourm...

you have to make sure your water parameters are close to their ideal numbers...sometimes making the temp. goes up to about 28 degrees C might help

use vitamin tablets, it will also stimulate the fishes mood to breed (eg. Sera Activant $ Fishtamin)

Make sure you have enough caves for them to form territory

I assumed he ment electric blue dempsey not ahli because ahlis are pretty easy to spawn.

yea i have 2 pot in the tank 1 drift wood n 1 pipe. i put the sera activant but dey still didnt breed n plus i have 1 goldfish in da tank dat i 4got 2 say. my temperature is alreadi about 28. i feed my fish ser flora flakes n colorbits

have u been feeding some frozen food or live food? That might do something as well....

and..if your temp is 28...it will be too hot for your goldfish..it will shorten it's life...to mix goldfish with tropicals..I say 25 is their limit

i havent been feeding frozen food onli flakes n granules. should i take the goldfish out? n how often do i change the water and how much water

I say it's better to talk the goldfish to another home, the temp for electric blue's are a bit hot for goldfish..but if u lower it it will be a bit too cool for the blue's

try feed some frozen Brine and Mysis shrimps see if that makes them happy

for how often u do water change..you can monitor your nitrate levels to see the exact time interval u need to do water changes....generally if u can keep below 40ppm within a time interval..then you are doing enough (although some people might say it's slack...but I do think 40ppm is reasonable for freshwater's..except Discus of course)

and 25% - 30% water change each time

im am trying 2 breed electric blue in a 3ft tank i have 3 males n 6 females n 4 bristle nose in the tank. i want 2 try and breed dem but dey wont breed help mi plz

the fact that your fish keep eating is a good sign...fish should also be hungry, give about 5 min feeding time for them each day...maybe like 3 min for their breakfast and 2 for their dinner...just feed as much as they can eat within these times and avoid food left over on your graval unless you are intended to do so to feed your bottom feeders..avoid feeding them extras even when they all swimming around the front begging for food...

weekly water change is fine..and what u mean making your fish fat or leave them normal? you will also find some fish in your tank are fat and some are skinny compare to the fat ones...that's normal..as long as they are not all fat or skinny

when a fish is dead and u dun see signs of disease such as white spots fin rotting's etc..you better check your water paramemters..NH4..NO2..PH..NO3..make sue they not far off

tanks week end. i see my male blue moving some gravel 2 a different place n is starting to be aggessive. how comes he dig the gravel?

that's one of their habit....they dig holes in certain areas which they think it's possible to make a "house" for them in their territory

That is way overstocked! I if you insist on keeping that many you should be getting a 6ft. tank! 3ft. is too small for even one!

he never mention how big the tank is how do you know it's overstocked?

oh he did...nah..it will be fine...as long as not being lazy for water changes and cleaning filter

i would get rid of the brissle nose (or are they dead?) dude goto ur local stone place and by rocks. i have a massive amount of rocks in my tank little pots are just bad they don't do much u need rock platforms and holes for them to swim around in they are cave dwellers and a pot is not much of a cave
