They are cave breeders & they like a Rocky background & they like a little privacy when breeding & they take care of the eggs & fry from other intrudors. They nearly eat anything & i feed them a variaty of foods, like Flakes, Algae Tablets, Granules, Brine Shrimp & occationatly Bloodworms. http://uk.pg.photos.yahoo.com/ph/s8xi5heh/my_photos http://www.geocities.com/s8xi5heh/classic_blue.html http://groups.yahoo.com/group/buzaqq/ http://www.deathbydyeing.org/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/corydoras/ Member of the Malta Aquarist Society - 1970. http://www.maltaaquarist.com |

Ours bred in a community tank with plenty of rocks and sand substrate. We had 2 males and one female but didn't expect them to breed. They were able to look after their fry very well even with the much larger fish in the same tank. We give them a good mixture of flakes, vegies and bloodworm. We now have a large group of them and it looks like they're getting ready to breed again ![]() Last edited by RustyBlade at 12-Jan-2006 18:35 |

We started with 1 pair 5 years ago and have been supplying our local shops with fry ever since. You can only tell what sex they are when they get bigger - males have longer brighter coloured fins and females have slightly deeper bodies. If you have one batch of fry then either move them out or the breeding pair especially if it looks like the parents are going to breed again because they can start to kill their own juveniles to make space or reduce threats to the new batch. Our Brichardi live with a coral sand floor and white rocks with holes in - they always lay in a pit by the rock and the fry live in the pit then move into the rock holes. Ours eat flake and crushed up algae wafers but go absolutely crazy over newly hatched brine shrimp and frozen bloodworm. |
