Could someone help me out with what to look for so I am getting good stock.
My LFS, has 4 A calvus black's, they look good and healthy quite young claims they are f1.
This store specializes in import cichlids, I just want to be safe as he is looking for $45 per.
Thanks guys.
Tom

I started a threat recently, and malaikah and dave said to look for solid stripes. A breeder i know also says make sure the gills from underneath the jaw does not hang out, or thats bad stock too.

Look for healthy fish, usually ones not hanging out in corners, as those will hide most of the day.

For $45 each, you'd get better prices and fish off online, probably from bluechip's and armkes. Shipping is alot, but it'll probably even out since those fish are $45 each.
