Nope, they are not compatible.

Clown loaches need a 125g aquarium and are compatible with Red Tailed Sharks, but not African cichlids as they need _very_ different water.

Electric Yellows and Electric Blues are different classes of fish from Lake Malawi (E. Yellow = Mbuna and E. Blue = Hap), some people say they can be kept together, but I wouldn't recommend it to someone who's never kept Africans.

There are many 4 foot tanks... a gallon or liter figure would be very helpful.

Yes... see that is simply too small for clown loaches who reach a maximum of about 35-45cm.

Perhaps another type of loach would be best suited for your aquarium? Possibly 6 of any of the following loaches, Zebra, Yo-Yo or Queen.

In addition to them you could have a Red Tailed Shark (you can only have 1 per tank). Then you could add a Simi-aggressive schooling fish such as tiger barbs or serpae tetra.

If you go with that you could then add a Simi-aggressive new world cichlid, possibly a pair of firemouths or a green severum.

I would go for 6 Yo Yo Loaches, 1 Red Tail Shark, 8 Tiger Barbs and then 4 Keyhole Cichlids

Perky, the poor keyholes would be terrorized in that tank. They are very timid and shy. I would go along with perky's list, but instead of keyholes, just a firemouth.

I agree with the comment about Clown size. However, in most cases they take years to reach maximum size. In fact, I have heard 5-6 years. So, those that have a clown need not rush out to get a bigger tank right away. Also, I have read on many other cichlid sites that in fact - alot of aftrican tanks do have clown loaches in them. I agree with the water parametres comment but they seem to adapt. I'm not saying this is right - just that clowns are suggested on some sites.

I wouldnt think the Keyholes would be attacked as I know alot of them are timid and shy but they still will be aggresive and defend themselves adequatley when they are attacked by another fish. Just my opinion. If not some Keyholes I would go for maybe a Yellow Acara.

That is true about the loaches but they like to live in groups so you will need more then say 4. clowns are allso very e to get white spot if its a new tank.
