can anyone reccomend a fish that can be a center peice for my cobalt blue and yellow lab cichlid tank? its a 55 gallon

I don't think you'll need or want a "centerpiece" when the fish are grown - it would just distract from the fascinating behaviors and gorgeous colors of the other two species. But if you absolutely must, I'd look into a male Peacock of some species and variety, and a top-quality pellet food that will satisfy both the cobalts and the peacock without endangering either, probably Newlife Spectrum.

i dont have any fish in the tank yet i think im going to go with little muslings advice how active ae cobalts and labs and how many do u think i should have of each?

They're very very active. You won't be disappointed, believe you me. If you start with about 8 of each species and remove any males that get expelled, you should end up with lovely groups and some room, perhaps, to leave a few fry in down the line. Just put in plenty of rock.
